Default Ho Ho's ?

I finally visited Ho Ho's Chinese restaurant at the north west corner
of Parmer/I-35 (near WalMart)

The food was very much like Din Ho. In fact, I ordered a dish I
always order at Din Ho, and they were almost identical. So if you
like Din Ho, it's worth visiting! I also liked the atmosphere that
is like a family restaurant.

We need an hardcore authentic Chinese restaurant south of the river. Or
even Central Austin. There's nothing like Din Ho south of... well...Din Ho.

By authentic(*) I mean places like First Chinese BBQ or Din Ho, Asia Cafe
(from what I hear), and now Ho Ho's.

Disclaimer: I have never eaten food in China. Authentic to me means dead
animals hanging from hooks and a selection of pig guts on a menu of 100+
other items. With [often elderly] Chinese guys cooking in the kitchen.
All served ala carte. Entrees witll NOT include egg roll, steamed or
fried rice, fried wontons and soup (and the inevitable red tubs of sugar
and cornstarch slurry).

These tend to be Cantonese style restaurants but I'd settle for Sichuanese
as well.

Am I missing any hidden gem?

Hao Hao has already been considered. First Wok or Hunan is usually my
best bet for Chinese-STYLE food. Bamboo Garden failed the only I time I
visited, and Super Bowl kicked me out last two times I was there trying to
order ala carte entrees.

Hahaha. I totally agree!

Maybe the name of the restaurant should be ? to non-native speakers of
Chinese and cannot be something like "Happy Budda" lol (Proper nouns
like "Marco Polo" are exceptions)
