How long does it take a yeast starter for sourdough bread to be done?

Default How long does it take a yeast starter for sourdough bread to be done?

I've gotten to the stage where it no longer sits on the counter. Its now in my fridge. I've been growing it for over a month now and i'm wondering if it will be done anytime soon and what the signs are that its done.

A starter is never DONE. You keep feeding it and using part of it to make bread. If you have been feeding it (adding flour) then you should be able to use it now (and for a few weeks prior to now). You should have at least enough starter to make a recipe of bread with enough starter left over to feed and keep the starter alive for your next bread making day.

A starter is never DONE. You keep feeding it and using part of it to make bread. If you have been feeding it (adding flour) then you should be able to use it now (and for a few weeks prior to now). You should have at least enough starter to make a recipe of bread with enough starter left over to feed and keep the starter alive for your next bread making day.
