Default How would one get started growing their own organic foods?

This one particularly, and she's broke ;-b
Seriously though, I really want to start making my own food because it is healthier and cheaper and my family cant afford healthy food.
Thanks!

By digging up a bunch of ground.
But you would be more realistic to define "healthy food" as something other than organic. You are not going to be poisoned by normal vegetables sold in stores and properly prepared and if you think you must have more control, go to the farmers market and talk to vendors about where the food comes from, buy it in bulk and freeze it.
And don't forget, if you grow your own food, even if you don't spray it, the air pollution around you may settle on the food anyway.

it really depends on where you live. If your going to grow indoors it's not going to be easy because of the cost, if growing outdoors your a little late in the season to be starting a garden

Prepare the soil, buy seeds, add water and sunlight. Pull out weeds.

You need to set up a small greenhouse or a well lit room in your house. Get some seeds for the things you want to grow. You need to start them in seed trays until they sprout and check when they need to go in the ground (depends on where you are). Then you need to make some beds. You can either double dig them and leave them or make raised beds out of wood. Then you need to weed and water them.

Your best bet would be to talk to some farmers in your area. If there is a farmers market around try there. Buy some of there stuff and be polite. Talk to people who grow their own food. Read books, and research online. It really depends on where you are and what you want to grow. It's a lot of work, but super satisfying when it all comes through.

Good luck,
Nick
