What is your favorite brand of cooking knives that stay sharp and do not rust?

| I am looking to buy a few knives...probably not a whole set since I never use all the knives. I want a Chef's, paring, serrated knife, and maybe a few other knives. I am looking at the Rachel Ray East West knife as one option. What line of Henckels? E.g International, Twin... |

| I love the RADA knives. They are made in the USA and come with a lifetime guarantee. You can buy all sorts of different knives. They sharpen up really well. I even bought the little sharpener they sell and it works wonderfully. These knives are usually sold by organizations for fund raisers, but you can order them on line. I like them because they are made in the USA!!!!!! The link is below. |

| I've had very good luck with Global, Shun, and Hoffschner. All are stainless steel, so rust is not an issue, and they hold their edges well if you hone regularly. I use my Globals the most and have only had to have them sharpened once in the last 6 years, although the Chef's and paring knife are about due. My Shun Santoku is only a few months old but is rapidly becoming my favorite knife ever, and my Hoffschner carving knife is 8-10 years old and going strong...of course it doesn't get used as often as the others. The Rachel Ray is prolly fine as long as it's a good stainless steel blade. Happy cooking. |
