Pretzels,Bratwurst, Sauerkraut, Knoedel, Spaetzle, a bunch of meat and sausages.
I'm German and I don't really like the cuisine- unless my Oma makes them! That woman can cook!!
It's an accustomed taste and few restaurants can make it work.
Our bread is really good there- dark and crunchy. Real stuff. Not processed white toast. There are thousands of bakeries- no bread tastes the same and there are fewer chains, so you get a lot of variety. The sweets are good too, especially the cakes and chocolate.
German food generally has less fat and sugar than American foods. If you're American, you might miss the flavor and find food there bland.
