it smells fishy to me, especially a place like wal-mart where i assume they

doubt it's happened once or twice - but as far as being widespread, i don't
think so.

plus the whole tone and theme fits urban legends of all kinds.

your pal,

I made this exact recipe once, and they were delicious.

Wal-mart may not be all that sharp. A few weeks ago a man wheeled
empty boxes into a Wal-mart in one of their shopping carts, took them
to the managers office, opened a safe and removed $200,000 or so
into the boxes, put them into the cart and wheeled the now-full boxes
out of the store into his car. He is gone. The speculation as to how this
could have happened is hilarious.

[quoting from an email he received]

At our local major supermarket (Coles) the checkout chicks *always*
ask if the customer wants cash out before finalising the transaction.
I've often wondered why they do this, but it now occurs to me that it
may be a credit card scam on behalf of the credit card providers!

When you take cash out you are charged interest on that amount from
the time you draw it out. However, it seems possible (but I haven't
checked this out) that the fine print in the terms of use of some
cards may say that once interest is charged, it is charged on the
*total* balance on the card, not just the cash-out component(s).

That would be a nice little earner for the card company where people
would normally pay no interest on their monthly card debt because they
pay it off before the due date.

Cheers, Phred.

I've never been asked if I want cash back on a credit transaction. Debit
card, yes, credit does not even give that option here AFAIK. If it was just
added to the total of the bill, it would not show as a cash transaction but
if it is a cash advance, I'd think it was a secondary transaction. In the
first case, I doubt the store would want to pay the credit card fee to give
you back a few bucks cash.

The recipe quoted in this thread said that it would produce 112
cookies. And you said you used the "exact recipe". ;-)

But that's the least of my problems -- we had a power glitch in the
midst of all this and I lost that recipe and it seems the contribution
was marked not to archive, so I can't get it back. :-(

You don't happen to have a copy you could post, do you? TIA.

Cheers, Phred.
