Default More roadside fruit...

I drove to my parent's house on Saturday, and picked nectarines,
peaches, apples and crabapples along the way. My laundry floor is
once again crowded with buckets of fruit, and yesterday a couple of
friends came over to help with some raw-packed peach processing. The
inmates, err, "residents" of the local old folk's home will eat well
for a few weeks now! :-)

(Running a little low on jars though!)

Good for you, my MIL lives in an old folks home here in the States and
I'm sure she wishes someone in her area was that generous.

I may have said this before....but....most of my preservng efforts go to
Christmas baskets for family and friends, and one recipiant is my 93 year
old grandmother. She's in a home too, and takes her meals in a group
setting, prepared by the 'house kitchen'. But she often takes the gifted
jams, jellies, pickles and salsas to the table with her, where she shares
with her fellow...'inmates'. She always tells me how much they all enjoy
and appreciate it. And that makes me feel good.

OK, OK, "inmates" was probably a bit extreme. In this particular case
anyway, it's more of a retirement village with individual cottages.

Since many of them are diabetic, my auntie tells me that they
appreciate being able to get preserved fruit that doesn't have any
sugar added.
