Default What is in the "do not eat" packet in beef jerky?

is it poison?
what effects might it have on humans or animals?

Silicate. Yes, it is poisonous. It is used to absorb mosture. Sometimes you see these same packets in clothing pockets, to keep mosture from harming the clothes before they are sold, etc.

it keeps the beef fresh and dry. and yes it poisonous
